Our Last Day in Singapore

April 25, 2018

Our last day in Singapore! How sad. We started our day off by getting some goodies at Breadtalk. This place is really really delicious! They make all sorts of bread and cakes. We got a ham and cheese roll, an almond donut, and sweet cheese loaf. They also had this delicious chicken bread with cheese on top. After eating we headed to the botanical gardens and orchid gardens. The botanical gardens are part of a UNESCO Heritage site and are very beautiful. They have all sorts of cool trees, plants, and flowers.

This is a super cool tree that grows around another tree and then eventually takes over, killing the host tree

For lunch we went to a place called fusion spoon that had all types of food from traditional Japanese to Western to local Singaporean. I had a pasta dish and Hunter had a beef and rice dish. After lunch we continued to walk through the gardens. The day was the hottest since arriving in Singapore and even under the trees we could feel the heat. We became tired and slow from it and we decided to go back to the hotel to swim. On our way back from the hotel, we stopped to get some snacks for our plane ride home. I got a seaweed snack and some pea chips.

Once we got back to the hotel, we checked our flight status and found out there was a big problem! The flight to SFO/LAX today cancelled and they rebooked people on the flight we are supposed to take tomorrow. There was no space for us. We began looking for new routes of how to get back to the USA. We found a route through Frankfurt Germany on Lufthansa. So we packed up our things and headed to the airport for an midnight departure as we needed to get off this island.

Our flight on Lufthansa to Germany was 12.5 hours. We were on an A380, a plane I've been dying to fly on. We sat in row 85 on the bottom level. The seats were nice and the food was pretty good. I would have loved to experience their first class seats too, but it was full this time. The seats in economy reclined quite far which was nice and overall was a great experience.
