Last Day in Paradise

Today is our last day at the resort as we check out at 5pm. After breakfast, we spent the morning poolside and packing up our stuff that was now spread around the villa.

Many boats of all kinds passed by, this was just one of the bigger ones we saw

Around 2pm we decided to participate in the Naka culinary moment where we made a salad that was the same salad we also made at our other cooking experience at the JW, the Yum Ma Muang Goong Siab raw mango salad. Hunter made us put a whole chili in the salad which made it really spicy and the staff had to get us water because of it! After our salad, we got lunch, this time at the Rum Chapel Restaurant although again we ordered off of the Tonsai menu. Hunter and I both went with refreshing staples, he got the pineapple southern-style fried rice and I had the local chili shrimp cakes. We followed up lunch with a brief final stroll through the grounds of the resort and finally a refreshing ice cream for dessert since the daily ice cream offering happens from 2pm to 4pm.

After our lunch snacking we went back to the room where we finished packing and then at 4:30pm an employee came and picked us up with a golf cart to take us to the office to check out. We signed the bill and then were on our way to the boat, but not before hitting the gong to make our wishes that we made on the first day come true. The hotel arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport which was quite convenient and not that expensive.

Once we got to the airport, we checked in with Singapore airlines who were very nice. We then went through security and passport control. Once we were inside the airport we went to a priority pass lounge called the coral lounge. They had an outdoor viewing deck that Hunter enjoyed!

After enjoying our lounge snacks and drinks, we headed to our gate. The boarding process was kind of long, but it was really nice to have confirmed tickets and not have to follow any special non-rev rules. We got seated in 42 J and K. Hunter and I were very confused because this plane type was only 6 seats wide but J and K would mean 10 seats wide and also 42 didn't exactly exist. Turns out they just have a very very strange method of lettering and numbering their seats and we were seated two rows back from the business cabin. We were actually the 6th or so row on the plane. As we went to get on our plane, we passed a really nice Qatar plane headed for Bangkok having just arrived from Doha. Our flight was about 2 hours long and they ended up serving a meal on the flight which was impressive! Hunter had a fried rice dish and I had a beef dish. It came with dessert which was a lovely pandan cake we have been enjoying. There was also a cute milk stick included!

We landed in Singapore at around 11pm. Hunter's blood sugar was low so we went to find gummy bears and came across an interesting interactive display for children, but it wasn't working sadly. It was based around skiing which is interesting since Singapore doesn't see snow ever. After rescuing Hunter with gummy bears, we then went to find the transfer desks to get our T'Way tickets to get to Seoul. Unfortunately, we couldn't do anything till closer to departure (3am) so we then made our way to the lounge we would be visiting for our 6-hour layover. On the way there we came across a Louis Vuitton mini museum that had trunks and bags from all different eras. Hunter really enjoyed the antique steamer trunks as we both like to see what travel was like years ago. We continued trying to get to the lounge and then found the butterfly pavilion. It was dark and the butterflies were all sleeping, but it was a very pretty enclosure. Finally, we made it to the lounge where we checked in and got drinks. My steam was running out and shortly I fell asleep in the lounge in the most comfortable position ever! While I slept Hunter showered, changed clothes, and checked loads for our flights back to the US while monitoring his blood sugars.
